Freakonomics – Penguin Book Design 2015

Book Cover

For this years Penguin Book competition. I decided to choose the Adult Non-Fiction catagory, which was ‘Freakonomics’ – a book about the weird and wonderful side of economics. From the previous covers that were published, I chosen to make it more serious and possibly ‘dark’ – as some of the topics were about the seedy and bad side of economocs. I played on the image of Temptation: the snake and the apple that is connected to the Adam & Eve story. Also it is a doube meaning image as the formation of the snake is a dollar sign. Tempation is often associated with greed and money.
